Curly Kale Scarlet
This leafy variety is cultivated for late autumn and winter harvesting. Frost resistant. Edible parts are its leaves, to be eaten raw or prepared like spinach. Leaves harvested after freezing are more delicate and lack bitterness. As it is frost-resistant, kale can stay in the field during winter (it is frequently damaged by hares), but in regions with heavy snow falls and strong winds it should preferably be dug up and stored in a sheltered place protected against sunlight, covered with thin layer of straw.
