Kiwano – African horned cucumber
An exceptionally thermophilic plant (growing at the temperature >15°C), mainly cultivated in hothouses and foil tunnels. In the field it can be cultivated only on sheltered spots and under agrotextile, from potted seedlings. The 10–15 cm long fruit contain tasty, refreshing pulp of a flavour resembling kiwifruit and banana, eaten fresh with seeds.
