Common purslane (Portulaca oleracea)
A trailing annual plant for cultivation in the field, under covers and on a balcony. The sown seeds should not be covered with earth, only slightly pushed in! The edible part are juicy, sour-salty leaves and stem ends. It contains many valuable minerals. It is prepared in the same way as spinach, asparagus or cauliflower. The raw purslane is an excellent addition to salads.
